Lesson 1: Inspiration and Inerrancy
Dashboard
God is restoring the people of Israel to their land and raising them as a spiritual army equipped to fulfill His calling. Through the Word of God, participants are urged to grow in understanding of God’s purpose, drawing from passages like Ezekiel 37 — where dry bones are revived into an 'exceedingly great army' — and Ephesians 6, which describes the Word of God as the 'sword of the Spirit.' The analogy between physical training in military service and spiritual training highlights the importance of knowing and trusting the reliability of this divine weapon. Just as soldiers must learn to depend on their weapons, followers of God must be confident that the Scriptures they wield are trustworthy and divinely inspired.
Inspiration, based on 2 Timothy 3:16, asserts that all Scripture is “breathed out by God,” giving it life and authority. Both Old and New Testaments are equally inspired, conveyed through the Holy Spirit’s influence on human authors by visions, dictation, dreams, and divine recall. Biblical inerrancy means that scripture is without error because God, who cannot lie, is its source. We can trust that scripture is not only true but is truth itself — a living, reliable foundation upon which faith and obedience stand. This confidence enables God’s people to train, teach, and live according to His Word as part of His greater plan to empower His spiritual army in the world.
