Lesson 7: Times and Seasons
Dashboard
God’s calendar — rooted in the Hebrew Scriptures and outlined in passages like Leviticus 23 — reveals His sovereignty and covenant purposes. The biblical feasts, the Sabbath, the lunar months, sabbatical years, and Jubilee cycles are not merely traditions, but divinely appointed times that reflect God’s heart and His ongoing relationship with Israel. These rhythms of time are tied to agricultural seasons in the land of Israel and serve as reminders of God’s saving acts in history, calling His people to gather, remember, worship and participate in His redemptive story. Through practices like blowing the shofar and observing sacred convocations, Israel is invited into a relational dynamic with God — one that remembers His covenant faithfulness and aligns with His sovereignty over creation, nations and history.
God governs not only days and seasons but also the rise and fall of kingdoms, as seen throughout Scripture and history. Drawing from passages such as Deuteronomy 32, Daniel and Genesis, it underscores that God establishes boundaries, appoints rulers and marks time with the recurring pattern of seven — weekly Sabbaths, seven annual feasts, sabbatical years and the Jubilee. These patterns testify to His authority and grace, inviting trust and obedience. Remembering history through God’s lens — whether Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, entry into the land, exile or future restoration — cultivates faith and perspective. Honoring God's times and seasons leads us to worship. God’s unfolding redemptive plan affirms that He remains fully in control of past, present and future events.
