Lesson 6: Covenants
Dashboard
God’s covenants provide the essential framework for grasping the unity and message of Scripture. Rather than seeing the Bible as a disconnected collection of stories, the covenants function like lenses that clarify God’s redemptive plan — from creation and blessing, through the disruption of sin, to the promise of restoration through the 'seed' first mentioned in Genesis 3:15. Covenants establish relationships, reveal God’s character, and progressively unfold His plan to restore blessing to the world. They also provide a meaningful and respectful foundation for sharing the message of Yeshua, especially with Jewish people, since covenant language is deeply rooted in the Jewish worldview.
Five major covenants — Noahic, Abrahamic, Davidic, Mosaic, and New—each build upon the previous one and reveals God’s purposes. The Noahic covenant highlights mercy and the sanctity of life; the Abrahamic covenant promises blessing and traces the chosen lineage; the Mosaic covenant defines holiness, sin, and the need for atonement; the Davidic covenant anticipates an eternal King; and the New Covenant promises inner transformation and forgiveness through Yeshua’s sacrificial blood. Together, these covenants reveal a faithful, holy, and loving God who initiates relationship, provides redemption, and will ultimately fulfill His promises to Israel and the world.
