The Conquest of France

This is the second of a three-part newsletter regarding the recent violent street riots in France. Some of the main instigators of these disturbances – Islamist anti-Semitism, Islamist anti-Christian activism and anti-French Islamism – will be examined. In the third newsletter (still to come), the mushrooming connection between Islamist anti-Semites and Leftist-Communist anti-Semites will be discussed, with a focus on the 50-100 anti-Semitic and leftist organizations catalyzing these attacks.

Historical roots and modern riots

Someone once said that a text without a context is a pretext. German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel remarked, “Experience and history teach us that nations and governments have never learned anything from history and have never acted in accordance with the lessons that could have been drawn from it” (‘Vorlesungen über die Philosophie der Geschichte’ [‘Lectures on the Philosophy of History’] published posthumously in 1837). In 1905 Spanish-American philosopher George Santayana noted in his ‘The Life of Reason’: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Most people today are unaware of the spiritually twisted roots (whether anti-religious, communist, anti-Semitic or pro-Islamist) which are wrapped around the trunk of the French Republic’s recent history. But an awareness of these issues holds the key to making sense of the riots spreading across France and Western Europe. It is our hope that his newsletter will unpack and clarify these matters.

Raising up the Islamist flag which Charles Martel tore down

Many centuries ago, in the days of Julius Caesar, the Romans ruled France (then known as Gaul). The ancient Latin word for hammer is martellus or martulus. In modern French it is called marteau. In the early 700’s AD, a Frankish military and political leader Charles son of Pepin was nicknamed ‘Martel’ – ‘the hammer.’ He was described in ancient French history (‘Liber Historia Francorum’) as “a warrior who was uncommonly ... effective in battle.”  Charls Martel was responsible for blocking the Umayyad Islamic invasion of France at the Battle of Tours in 732 AD.

Contemporary accounts tell us that Charles stopped the jihadi invasion of France which was being carried out by the Umayyad caliphate. “With Christ's help, he overturned their tents and hastened to battle to grind them small in slaughter. Thus did the victor triumph over … all the Ishmaelite … enemies” . . .  and “scattered them like the stubble.”  “Few battles are remembered over 1,000 years after they are fought, but the Battle of [Tours-Poitiers] is an exception . . . Charles Martel turned back a Muslim raid that had it been allowed to continue, might have conquered Gaul” (‘Fighting Techniques of the Medieval World, AD 500 – AD 1500: Equipment, combat skills, and tactics’).

In the past few weeks, the ‘Palestinian flag’ has been raised triumphantly across France in the thick of the riots. Few know that the white stripe in that PLO flag represents the jihadi Umayyad caliphate which had invaded France in Charles’ day, conquering Narbonne and slaughtering its Christian population. This past Islamic conquest of France is represented as one of the symbols in the ‘Palestinian’ flag. And it was Charles the ‘Hammer’ who led the indigenous Christian resistance to the jihadi armies at the Battles of Toulouse and Tours.

There is a prophetic symbolism in the raising of this flag – especially in France.

As Patrick West notes in ‘The Spectator’:

  • “The Palestine flag, as it is being hoisted and brandished across the French republic at the moment, has come to signify something far more than the aspirant state of Palestine. In short, it has become an all-encompassing symbol to denote hatred of the West and of European civilization . . . Like the keffiyeh, it has become a symbol for an omni-cause generation, a flag of convenience for all kinds of agitators and malcontents. It serves as a banner for an apolitical, nihilistic lumpenproletariat whose idea of social justice, as we have seen, is looting stores for designer wares, who glory in setting fire to a historic building such as Limoges Town Hall.”

Daniel Greenfield writes in his October 21, 2026 article “Why Rioters Wave the ‘Palestinian’ Flag”:

  • “The ubiquitous presence of the ‘Palestinian’ flag at riots from New York City to Milan isn’t an expression of solidarity: it’s a statement of genocidal intent for every country where it’s flown. Its colors represent the historic Islamic caliphates which once ethnically cleansed the Middle East. Radicals who wave the PLO flag claim that it’s a protest against genocide: it is genocide. The colors of the ‘Palestinian’ flag represent a bloody history of Islamic genocides across 1,000 years. The colors of the ‘Palestinian’ flag are a symbolic litany of past Islamic conquests and the promise of future conquests ending with the subjugation of the entire human race. The PLO flag may be waived by both radical leftists and Islamists, but its symbolic history promises victory for only one of those movements. The revolution is actually a caliphate.”

Sofia Afonso Ferreira, Portuguese politician and journalist, notes:

  • “France was among the first to formally recognize a Palestinian state, betting that early mercy would buy quiet. Instead, the same streets filled with Palestinian flags – the black, white, green and red of the Abbasid, Umayyad, Fatimid and Hashemite traditions – while the French tricolor disappeared. You may have noticed that during these riots no mosque was reported damaged. French symbols, public buildings and Jewish-linked sites absorb the violence, the parallel institutions of the imported communities do not. This is not new. Palestinian leadership and the networks that fly its colors have a documented habit of turning on their hosts once the host is no longer useful – Jordan in Black September, Lebanon in the civil war, and several other Arab states that later expelled or contained the same factions. Europe is now running the same experiment at larger scale. France is learning it in real time. So are Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and the rest. The flags are not metaphors for statehood. They are the colors of successive caliphates and, coincidentally, the four horsemen of the apocalypse.”

The resurrection of such jihadi hatred and murderous anti-Semitism is not only revealed in the colors of the Palestinian flag. It is seen in crystal-clear quotations from the Quran and the Hadith (Muslim authoritative literature) like Hadith 2922 or Sahih al-Bukhari 2926, which are quoted in Article Seven of the August 18, 1988 Hamas Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement:

  • “Abu Huraira reports allah’s messenger (i.e. Mohmmad) as saying: ‘The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. . . The stones or trees will say: “O Muslim, O Abdulla [servant of allah]! There is a Jew behind me; come and kill him!”

What do Islamists really think about France?

Here are various statements made over the past eleven years about the role of Islam in France, as well as a list of terrorist actions taken by Islamists against French citizens:

An IFOP (French Institute of Public Opinion) survey conducted and published in late 2025 (‘An Assessment of the Relationship Between Muslims in France and Islam and Islamism’) found that nearly 59% of young French Muslims aged 15 to 24 believe that Sharia (Islamic law) should take precedence over or should apply above French republican law. Roughly 46% of the overall Muslim population in France expresses support for applying Sharia law.

On October 30 2020, Nidal Siam (an Islamist preacher) addressed an enthusiastic, cheering crowd at a al-Aqsa mosque rally in Jerusalem:

  • “The only response to France and President Macron is to declare jihad. The armies of the caliphate will conquer Rome and France and remove Macron and his corrupt civilization ... It is a civilization of prostitution and promiscuity. It will be replaced by an Islamic civilization and justice.” The audience responded with rhythmic chants: “Through jihad, we will destroy Macron” and “Tomorrow we will conquer Paris!”

On October 2020, Ali Abu Ahmadat, a preacher belonging to the Hizb ut-Tahrir (international Islamist fundamentalist organization whose stated aim is the re-establishment of the Islamist caliphate), declared at an al-Aqsa mosque rally in Jerusalem:

  • The response to French President Emmanuel Macron, who “supported the publication of offensive cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad,” would be to re-establish the Islamic caliphate and “the destruction of Paris to rubble by Muslim armies, led by the caliphate.”

Between 2002 to 2017, France witnessed the murder of its own citizens – Jews, Catholic priests and famous secularists – by jihadi Islamists:

  • January 21-February 13, 2006 – the kidnapping, severe torture, burning and murder of 23-year-old Jewish Ilan Halimi by at least 20 individuals, led by Youssouf Fofana, who appeared in court proclaiming ‘allahu akbar.’ When asked his name and date of birth, he answered in French (translated here): “My name is Arab, armed African rebellion Salafist barbarian army, and I was born on 13 February 2006 in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois.” The date and place given are where the tortured corpse of Ilan Halimi was found. As Fofana left the courtroom, he shouted: “All the Jews in the world are there [on the court benches]. They are my enemies. This is an Arab attack!”
  • March 19, 2012 – The murder of seven – a rabbi and his three children at Ozar Hatorah Jewish day school in Toulouse, as well as three off-duty French soldiers, by Mohammed Merah (an Algerian raised in Toulouse). Merah justified his jihadi attack on the Jewish school because “The Jews kill our brothers and sisters in Palestine.”
  • November 13, 2015 – ten Islamists belonging to ISIS attacked the Bataclan theater, the main soccer stadium outside Paris, and five other targets simultaneously, murdering 130 and wounding at least 875
  • July 26, 2016 – Father Jacques Hamel, 85, whose throat was slit while celebrating Catholic Mass in a church in Rouen, by two Muslim followers of the Islamic State
  • April 4, 2017 – The brutal anti-Semitic torture and execution of Sarah Halimi, a 65-year-old French Jewish retired doctor and schoolteacher, murdered in her Paris apartment by 27-year-old Kobili Traoré, who shouted out ‘allahu akbar’ and ‘I killed the shaitan/satan’ during the act. Traoré loudly engaged in Islamic prayer after the murder.
  • October 16 2020 – The murder of 47-year-old schoolteacher Samuel Paty by an Islamist who beheaded him for the supposed crime of ‘blasphemy’

When France spurns Israel

Genesis 12:3 (ESV) clarifies YHVH’s foreign policy to the nations (including to La Belle France) concerning their treatment of Jacob’s children: “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” God has created the Jews to be a channel of blessing to the world. But He also promises to curse any individual who despises the Jew in his or her own heart. Unfortunately, many of France’s recent decisions run afoul of God’s heart.

On October 7, 2023, while Hamas terrorists were still raping, torturing, murdering and kidnapping Israeli youth, farmers and townspeople just across from Gaza, French President Macron called Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu to tell him that France was working on a diplomatic solution, and that Israel should not respond militarily to these Islamist terrorists. Netanyahu responded, “Emmanuel, that’s not going to happen. What you have here is ISIS. Hamas is ISIS, and in some ways, even worse. And if we don’t eliminate them here, you’ll have them in Paris.” Bibi spoke prophetic words.

On Tuesday October 20, 2026, three years later, as the entirety of France was being racked by riot, Netanyahu was asked what advice he would give to France. He said: “Fight back, do not pursue a policy of appeasement. Fight against the extremists! They will devour France; they will devour Europe.’  Netanyahu said that French leaders had failed to prepare for the unrest. He stated that the rioting was fueled by extremist Muslims. France’s leaders “did not prepare in time; they simply gave up. They succumbed to the invasion of radical Islam,” Bibi said on French-language Channel i24News.

Here is a short list of recent French political manouvers which caused damage to the Jewish state:

  • On September 23, 2025, President Macron became the first G7 nation to recognize a Palestinian state, catalyzing an international move to divide the Land of Israel (see Joel 3:1-2).
  • On March 31, 2026 France forbade USAF flyovers against Iran.
  • On June 1, 2026 France banned Israeli weapons exhibits at the 2026 Eurosat international defense and security exhibition.
  • On September 8, 2026 France announced a joint trade restriction on goods produced in Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

These continuing efforts to stick French fingers into the apple of God’s eye (see Zechariah 2:8) do have divine consequences.

On October 6, 2026 President Trump warned on Truth Social: “What’s happening in France is nothing more than mass immigration that has gotten out of control. This is not about schools; this is about Islam wanting to take over a once great country!”

On October 18, 2026 Trump added: “France is burning! The immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country. Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late!”

Large parts of recent unrest have been concentrated in the same primarily Muslim banlieues (municipal regions) that have seen repeated waves of rioting over the past decades. These are tied to failed integration of Muslims into larger French society. Instead, Muslim growth has been channeled into parallel Islamic societies. All this is the unintended result of not-thought-through mass immigration policies – where imported populations opt for limited assimilation, with resulting higher rates of street crime and violence.

Politically correct pure ignorance

On May 21, 2017, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, addressed the Tweeps Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He warned the West that radical Islam and leftist extremists will arise out of Europe. Certain countries in Europe could become “hotbeds of terrorism,” he noted, if they fail to deal with the extremist elements that have migrated there. He noted at the time that “Saudi Arabia is more determined to fight terrorism than the Europeans. We hear voices in Britain, Germany, Spain and Italy calling to kill the residents and steal their wealth.” Sheikh bin Zayed then switched from spoken Arabic to spoken English:

  • “And let me say this in English so you can understand what I’m saying . . . I just want to make sure you get it right. There will come a day that we will see far more radical extremists and terrorists coming out of Europe because of the lack of decision-making, trying to be politically correct or assuming that they know the Middle East and they know Islam and they know the others far better than we do. And I’m sorry, but that’s pure ignorance.”

On Sunday night October 18 2026, as France convulsed in leftist and Islamist violence, Sheikh bin Zayed reposted the above clip with a curt caption: “I told you so.”

The conquest of France by Islam

Here are some challenging quotes from a handful of Muslim and Christian leaders regarding upcoming Islamist goals vis-à-vis Europe:

Muammar Gaddafi, former Islamist leader of Libya, declared in an April 10, 2006 speech; ‘Terrorists Promise More Attacks Like 9/11’ (Steven Stalinsky; New York Sun, September 6, 2009); “We have 50 million Muslims in Europe. There are signs that allah will grant Islam victory in Europe, without swords, without guns, without conquest, and will turn it into a Muslim continent within a few decades.”

Yusuf al-Qaradawi, chief Muslim Brotherhood theologian, declared in a fatwa (religious ruling) on April 1, 2002: “Constantinople was conquered in 1453 by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II, son of Murad. Now only Rome remains, and for this we yearn and believe. The meaning is clear: Islam will return to Europe once more as conqueror and victor, after being expelled twice. I believe this conquest will not be by the sword, but through preaching and spreading Islamic ideology… until Islam embraces both East and West (in other words, the entire world).”

Bishop Athanasius Schneider of Kazakhstan declared in 2025: “We’re witnessing an invasion. They are not refugees. This is an invasion, a mass Islamization of Europe.”

Cardinal Robert Sarah from Guinea, West Africa, announced on April 5, 2019: “As a bishop, it is my duty to warn the West: the barbarians are already inside the city … How could I not emphasize the threat posed by Islamism?  Muslims despise the atheistic West. They take refuge in Islamism as a rejection of the consumer society that is offered to them as a religion.”

Feeding the sons of Jacob to the crocodile

Maarten Boudry is a Belgian philosopher and academic. He has been a researcher in philosophy and moral sciences at Ghent University from 2006 until 2025. Here are some cogent comments:

  • “Before long, we will all know what it feels like to be Jewish. In France, they already know . . . It will be our just desserts for having abandoned the Jews, ignored their warnings, turned against them, and even marched alongside their oppressors. For three years, you useful idiots have been parading Palestinian flags, sporting keffiyehs, screaming ‘From the River to the Sea,’ and recognizing a fictitious Palestinian state as a reward for Hamas’ October 7 massacre (yes, I’m looking at you, Emmanuel Macron). You have boycotted the only Jewish state in the world, vilified the Jewish people’s right to self-determination (known as ‘Zionism’), and spread the blood libel of ‘genocide in Gaza’. Did you think that if you fed the crocodile enough Jewish flesh, it would eventually be satisfied? It never ends with the Jews All you did was strengthen the monster and whet its appetite even more.”

United Arab Emirates political analyst Amjad Taha speaks to the heart of the matter:

  • “What is happening in France—the unrest and attacks targeting society and the economy—is the result of a government that tries to surf every wave instead of correcting the ship's course. On October 7, the day when Hamas killed children and women in Israel – in those same streets where the unrest is unfolding today, the same students and the same individuals who are now waving Hamas and Hezbollah flags - celebrated the October 7 massacre. At the time, the government did not stop them. On the contrary, it needed their votes, so it trampled on the wounds of the Jewish community and even called on the United Nations to give Hamas, the ISIS of Gaza, a state to govern.”
  • “When these students targeted young Jewish girls and boys on university campuses, as well as Jewish homes and restaurants in Paris, their actions were effectively endorsed by the indifference toward the suffering of the Jewish community. Macron then went on to tell the world that there was no Hamas presence in the West Bank. Even Hamas would contest that claim: it is present there and poses a threat. But those who failed to see the danger in Paris will not recognize it in the West Bank. An authority whose security is under attack, whose police officers are assaulted in the streets, and which, to this day, still refuses to ban the Muslim Brotherhood or Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps should understand that it has contributed to creating these troubles. These students are suffering from an identity crisis fueled by the ignorance of elites, authorities, and media who have treated antisemitism as an opinion rather than a crime.”

In Paris, Meyer Habib, a French-Jewish former lawmaker, told Israeli Channel 14 that Place de la République, where rioting also occurred on Saturday October 18, 2026, was ‘flooded’ with Palestinian flags:

  • “While French President Emmanuel is giving advice to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about security, the main square in Paris, the Christian Dior shops, the Apple shops, even grocery stores, [are looted] by whole families, mothers with their children. I feel pain for France, my country, and call on my French brethren: Wake up before it’s too late!”

How shall we then pray?

  • Pray for the people of France and their political leaders – to receive a revelation of the reality of these threats and respond in obedience to God’s word

  • Pray for believers in Yeshua everywhere to receive biblical and Spirit-breathed revelation about these matters, and to walk in obedience to these biblical truths

  • Pray for the raising up of Ezekiel’s prophetic Jewish army throughout the earth!

Your prayers and support hold up our arms and are the very practical enablement of God to us in the work He has called us to do.

In Messiah Yeshua,

Avner Boskey
